Terminated employee retaliates thru workmans comp?

I fired an employee for violating a company policy (fighting on the job) and he retaliated by getting a lawyer and claiming a bogus injury. I've argued with my wc company numerous times to deny the claim but they won't. Is there anything that can be done? Can I hire a lawyer to counter sue, shouldn't the wc company do that for me?
