Tick bite or spider bite?

I was just out with my friends when i found a little circle cut on my calf. It looks sort of red and is bumpish and you can feel something underneth the cut. My stepmom says that this is a spider bite and not to worry with it but idk. Can you see a tick when it is underneath the skin? If it is, what will it do overnight?
